Debossed inky resist

Today is the 28th of the month and the day my zoom mates and I post to the Group of Seven Cardmakers cards we made using debossed inky resist.

This is a fun technique with great results. I found some embossing folders worked better than others and I just had to try different ones to see what worked best.

My first card used a Sizzix 3-D texture fade called foliage. I inked green ink over it then cut a leaf out and embossed it with the same folder in gold embossing powder. The greeting is also embossed in gold.

The second card was a bit trickier. The raised part was what I embossed in white embossing powder. I used orange and brown ink and dabbed it on. The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die cut in white and layered over a kraft shadow die.

My last card used a Simon Says embossing folder Vine Canopy. I embossed it in silver embossing powder and inked over it with a soft aqua. The greeting is from Hero Arts cut from Tonic mirror black cardstock. Three very different cards using the same technique.

I just sold my homing pigeon on ebay for the 22nd time.

One more time

I'd like to clarify my last post because so many people haven't heard of it. Foundry Wax is a Ranger Distress product. It is a liquid wax that you use by pouring a tiny bit on your mat and use a paintbrush or your finger to apply. It is easy but you must work quickly because it dries to a powder. It  just shines when you apply heat over it.

This is another card like my last one. I used the same embossing folder from WRMK and white cardstock. This time I wasn't so heavy handed and only put the wax on the flowers. It came out much better this time. I used my finger to apply it. I haven't tried a paintbrush but I would if I had a larger surface to cover. The shine doesn't show in the picture like it did on black cardstock, but it is there.

Whatever you do, do it 100%.  Unless you are donating blood

Foundry wax

This is my first attempt using Foundry Wax. I like that it is liquid because I have some in a tin that is solid but the smell is so strong I can't use it. I couldn't imagine someone opening a card made with it and dropping to the floor like a rock! Since I love the look of it, I ordered Tim's new product. You have to be quick when you use it as it dries to a powder. One minute it's there and the next it's not.  I got a bit heavy handed and wish I hadn't smeared it past the flowers but it was an experiment. I also put some on my mat and added water and spritzed it on the background. The embossing folder is WRMK.

Someone stole my Microsoft Office and you're going to pay. You have my word.

Still posting Valentines

Since I have been such a slug about getting things done lately, I am still posting Valentines. I did get a few out in the mail and think they got there on time. This is an old technique I used but it still works. I sponged a panel with two colors using blending brushes. Then ran the panel through an embossing folder. To highlight the words I sanded over the panel, then added a die cut love covered in glossy accents.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am here Tuesday instead of Wednesday to wish everyone a special day today no matter what you are doing. It is just one day that we spread love to those we may not celebrate every single day of the year but I want to spread it to all my blogging friends. I love that you come to visit my blog and leave comments. Cardmakers are special because they spread love and kindness by sending cards to cheer people up, get well, sympathy, birthday wishes and just thinking of you and so many more. Some are "just because" you are special to them.

I stamped a Stampin' Up flower with stems stamp on the front of a card base, then cut a heart die from a panel and put it over the stamped image. The shiny hearts are all sequins including the Love.

I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know which came first.

A basket of love

I used this Northwoods wood mounted stamp to make a Valentine. I feel like it is sending a basket of love to the recipient. I stamped in black ink and colored the image with Copic markers. I just stamped and embossed the sentiment with a Stampin' Up stamp.

I never finish anything. I have a Blackbelt in partial arts.

Foiling

Foiling is not something I've been into but I have foil as any good crafter should! This is a birthday card today for a wonderful blogging friend that I've been lucky enough to meet. I used transfer gel through a stencil. It needs to dry, then I used the foil over it and sent it through my mini minc machine. What fun that is. I bought the mini minc back in the day and haven't used it but once or twice. I need to remedy that.

What do you call dental x-rays?  Tooth pics.

One last card

I have one more card made from the groupofsevencardmakers technique that has now reached it's destination. This is Creative Heat Embossing crumpled up plastic wrap smooshed in Versamark ink, then pounced on cardstock. First in turquoise embossing powder and heat set, then in gold embossing powder and heat set. The sentiment is from a Poppy Stamps die.

I need to practice social distancing a little bit longer - from the fridge.

Here comes Santa Claus

This card is actually for this past Christmas. My grandson wasn't here for Christmas so this is the card I made for him. We will be having a party when he gets home to celebrate his becoming a Marine and to celebrate Christmas.

A very simple card using card stock and a button die cut from mirror card stock.
