Mornings are like fall here

We are having cool mornings with lots of dew and it does seem like fall. Then it heats up in the day and we have been having temps in the 80's so it has cooled down. Also losing daylight in the morning and evening.

The first picture below is Daisy doing her impromptu impersonation of Yoda. It cracks me up.

I see so many stunning cards made with just pattern paper and a sentiment, so when I saw this paper I could not cut it up. It needed to be used just as it is. This is from a 6 x 6 paper pack called Ciao Bella that says made and printed in Italy. I just added an embossed sentiment from My Favorite Things to complete it. I think you will see why I love it.

Print Making with Friends

I had the wonderful opportunity to Zoom with some talented crafters recently. We watched a video on  Kathy Racoosin's blog https://www.thedailymarker.com/2020/07/day-1-print-making-coloring// about print making before we got together. Such a fun way to make a background and we all made our cards while we Zoomed. I used Distress Inks to watercolor the Poppy Stamps leaf and added an unknown leaf button to the card. The sentiment is from Scrapping For Less. When you watercolor over a panel it leaves a very faint image that becomes part of your background. You can spritz your die cut and smoosh it on the panel too. My second card used  two butterfly die cuts from Memory Box and a sentiment from Lawn Fawn. I hope it gives the idea of flight.  I really like the look this technique gives and loved Zooming with friends. I hope you will go visit my Zoommates  listed below to see the gorgeous cards they made.

Getting in under the wire

I have been working on my Twofer for several days and for once, had the idea but not the time. Got my hair cut and I feel like a new person.

My first card is a tree die cut over a Distress Inked background. I stamped the moon from Altenew and masked it to do the sponging. Then glued the tree down and added a puffy cat sticker and a sentiment.

My second card is Lawn Fawn stamp fussy cut and colored with Copics and popped up on a Distress Inked background. I stamped the same moon on acetate and cut it down to make the crystal ball. I don't know how she looked through that cloudy crystal ball to read it but the outcome was good! I mounted both card panels on SU card stock. I'm happy to have a Halloween card made this early.

My prayers are with those in California and also in the gulf where two storms are converging. I hope everyone stays safe.

I saw people

I got to see my granddaughter over the weekend and my friend, Marilyn. It was wonderful and I was so glad to see them. I'm still not ready to go anywhere else but seeing them was a big boost.

This is a birthday card I made last week. Lawn Fawn pattern paper, the cat is Katzelkraft and the happy was cut with tonic dies in different colored cardstock. That expression on the cat's face is just priceless. The inside says Birthday to a cool cat.

I ventured out

After five months of home quarantine I went into the grocery store Friday. I needed to exchange some items that were sent in my online grocery order so I took those items back and then shopped inside the store. It was so nice to pick out my own food but I will tell you, it wore me out. I can tell I need to be doing more and getting more activity. Daisy and I have walked some and that helps too.

I recently received a wonderful, uplifting gift and I wanted to send a thank you card. This is a Memory Keepers embossing folder that I inked up first, then embossed. The thank you is embossed over vellum. The card reminds me of the Blue Willow dishes my aunt had when I was growing up and maybe that's why blue has always been my favorite color. A simple card but I had to do it three times to get the embossing folder inked up well. Getting an even coverage is harder than I thought.

Do I have a beak?

That is the question my friend, Marilyn, called and asked me after she got the card I posted Friday. She is coming down Friday and we will have lunch on the porch. I am so looking forward to it. She has been staying in too so I think we are safe.

We had serious thunderstorms come through last night and Daisy just shakes and shakes. Does anyone have a Thundershirt for their dog and does it work? I think she needs something to soothe her.

I created this card for my next door neighbor. Every time she goes to the store she calls me to see if I need anything. I blended Distress Oxide Inks and used my new Picket Fence Spliced Heart die with Nuvo Glimmer Paste. The best human is a sentiment from Mama Elephant and the thank you from Lil Inker Designs. I will get to post this to NBUS as all three of those are NBUS.

Missing everyone

I am missing all my friends so much and but have chosen to not go out, as have many of my friends. We talk on the phone but we miss having lunch and just getting together. I made this card for my friend Marilyn. We used to rent a house with two other gals back in 1966! Oh my, what fun we had back in the day. Three of us met our husbands when we lived there and the two gals are still married to them. I would have been, but death do us parted. We don't get to see the other two gals very often but Marilyn and I get together every month or so and have lunch, shop or see a movie. I miss her so much. We vacationed together and the guys both played golf while we went to the beach or shopped. I miss those days too.

Sorry, I got carried away with the memories. This is a Katzelkraft Mini stamp and a Gerda Steiner sentiment. I cut the circles with Spellbinders dies and used Papertrey twine. I did tighten up the twine on the bottom. Sometimes I see things on the picture that I didn't on the card. I'm not sure why that is.

Last golf card

This is the last card I made using a fold from Jackie's You Tube. I hope you watched the video her hubby made, it is so funny. I used the paper from Stampin' Up and the fold Jackie showed. This is for my son's birthday and the previous cards are for my son and grandson. I'm trying new things again. The last time I tried new things they all went so wrong they ended up in the trash so this is encouraging. The water color on my last card and these new cuts and folds came out great. You just have to keep trying. Since it is a masculine card I didn't add bells and whistles.

CAS Mix Up Card Challenge

I'm so pleased to be a guest designer this month for  CAS Mix Up Challenge. The challenge this month is water color and the  prompt is Beach and I always think of the beach as a relaxing place to be. Everything is water colored except the color on the flip flops. That is done with a Copic marker. The beach chair is a die by Gina Marie and the flip flops and sentiment by Lawn Fawn. I hope you are relaxing even if it's not on a beach.
