-35 Wind chill

is very, very cold! Minnesota is -65. It's hard to imagine that kind of cold. Most things are closed, including the Universities. I worked at a University for 35 years and it only closed twice in that time so this is big. Suppose to be 55 by Sunday. Isn't that nuts!

This is a card we made at SU class. I made four of them and only changed the twine around. My bronchitis has come back and while I feel okay other than the cough, I haven't had any energy so I haven't been making any cards. The cough seems to hang on and it just knocks me out when it happens. This seems to be going around here so I'm just staying in and keeping warm. All products are Stampin Up.

A die cut card

This Valentine was made with all die cuts. The cherub is Impression Obsession, the heart is Simon Says Stamp and the sequins and greeting are Lawn Fawn. Very easy but I do love it.  This is a granddaughter card.

My first Christmas card

I am so happy to be entering a card for the Caschristmascardchallenge. This is the first time I've ever made a Christmas card this early. I might make it this late for last year, but this is a first. I finally have all my Christmas stamps and dies in one place that I can get to so I hope to do this more in 2019. The theme is blue and silver and this is my card. I used matte silver c/s and a Memory Box secret cabin die in navy c/s. The sentiment is a Hero Arts die and stamp.  That's it.

I need flowers

Well we got it all, rain, sleet, ice, snow, high winds and freezing cold! However, my side of town only got a little bit of snow. Downtown got 5.5 inches so I was lucky. It is cold though.

I am starting my birthday cards for coming up birthdays. The paper is Stampin' Up for Valentines from last year and by the time I got it it was after Feb. 14th. So it is new to me. I used a Penny Black die and cut in gold c/s and used Ranger's Queen's Gold embossing powder on black c/s for the sentiment. Stay warm everyone that's in this winter storm.

Now that this is posted, the upper right corner looks like a flying horse or dog.  Oh dear, do you think she will notice that?

Snow again

I made my grocery run today (along with most of the other people in the city) to stock up on necessities before the storm coming tomorrow. Snow, rain and ice so another great crafting weekend! I could get used to this every week.

I found this stencil at JoAnn's several years ago. It is self adhesive and there are four in the package, two doilies and two hearts. It is made by Momenta. I sponged DOI in Worn Lipstick through the stencil to make the heart then mounted it to a kraft doily from The Paper Studio. I then adhered a soft kraft  gingham pattern paper to a white card base and added the doily. The sweet little pink gem is unknown. The love you is stamped with a DeNami stamp. I am entering in the casstencil sponging.

Wintry scene

This is a card we made at Stampin' Up class. I love the simplicity and the fade out scene. So many of my friends are going through some really rough times right now and I need a lot of this type of card. All products are Stampin' Up from the Sheltering Tree set. The tree on the left is stamped after stamping the tree on the right so it fades out a bit.

Looks like we will all be in this weekend stamping as new storms are moving across the country. Everyone be safe. Molly did not like the snow as much this time as it is up to her belly when she goes out and she comes in all wet. Nothing like the smell of wet dog until she gets dried off. I now have a towel hanging by the back door.

Snow and more snow

When you get six inches of snow you can craft all day long. How great is that!  The Twofer card challenge using the prompt word Birds just started and I needed a birthday card and some Valentines so I got busy and decided to kill two birds with one stone. I used an Art Impressions stamp called Zoocrew for my bird. Due to how big he is I couldn't change the design of the cards but they are for two different occasions, birthday and Valentines Day. I lightly sponged clouds in the background of the birthday card with a Simon Says Stamp stencil and Broken China distress ink. Both birds are colored with Copics. I die cut a red heart from red shiny paper using a Lawn Fawn die and drew a black line so he could hold it in his beak. And what a beak it is! The birthday sentiment is Art Impressions and the other one is from Technique Tuesday.

No birds were harmed in the making of these cards.

So funny

If you haven't seen this, I hope you will watch it. It is on YouTube and it is a Scottish grandmother reading this book to her grandson. Oh my gosh, she is so funny. I think you will enjoy it. I laughed and laughed and hope you will too. The book completely sold out right after this video came out!

Winter is back

Gosh, Tuesday was 51 degrees here and yesterday it was a wind chill of 24 with high winds and snow off and on all day, some really heavy. I guess winter has returned. We have been lucky with warm weather for the holidays. This weekend it is possible to have 3-6 " of snow. Perfect card making weather.

I have started my Valentines but I don't make very many since I don't have much Valentine "stuff". . I am going to pull out stamps that can be used and improvise. I want to keep myself on a stamping budget this year and not buy something just because I like it. To make this card I used red pepper ink from Adirondack sponged through a Memory Box stencil called Smash. I die cut it with a Spellbinders die and mounted it on a white panel, then a kraft one and added it to my card base. The white heart is die cut from paper that is hand made and textured. The metal arrow is Tim Holtz and the sentiment is Hero Arts. I used a Copic marker to color in the tiny little hearts in the sentiment in krafty looking ink.  I am entering this is the brand new CAS Stencil Challenge. The first challenge is sponging. I sponged, stamped, used die cuts and embellishment.

A week

I can't believe it's been a whole week since I posted. It has been a busy time that I wasn't planning on but that's okay. Life gets in the way of crafting sometimes. First, I want to wish everyone on the west coast safety with all the winds and rains and snow coming in.

This is the card I made for casmixup challenge of bokeh. I sponged Distress Oxide Inks in broken china and dusty concord. Then I used my Stampin Up craft white ink with three different stencils to make the different size dots. My ink is very old and wasn't very juicy so the dots aren't really bright. I also stamped a sentiment from Words to the Rescue from Art Gone Wild and die cut flowers from Penny Black inked with dusty concord. I don't know if you can see that I also mounted the panel on lavender mulberry paper. I love that paper and you never see it any more so I'm bringing it back!
