I was wrong about spring

I thought it was here but apparently not yet. Last week we had a wind chill of 28, lots of wind and rain. Once in a while it's warm but not often. The weather is wacky everywhere. I'd like normal again.

May is a big birthday month for family and friends and I loved using the cards from Group of Seven to make a lot of cards for my friends. It's been my favorite technique because of the great mix of colors you get. It's a fun way to play and a great go to if your mojo leaves on vacation.

After saying that, I made a birthday card using a die that is new to me. It's a Simon Says Stamp balloon die and is paper pieced. I sponged yellow, orange and gray Distress Oxide inks, then die cut with the balloon die. After gluing the outline on the card panel, I inlaid the pieces. I added a strip of pattern paper along the bottom and some shiny gems. The panel was added to a gray cardbase and a Stampin' Up sentiment was used.

I will add this card to the NBUS challenge.

Alcohol Inks on Gelli Plate

This month on Group of Seven Cardmakers Christine led alcohol inks using a gelli plate. I really enjoyed this technique and got fun results.

I added alcohol 91% on my gelli plate and dropped on inks. Then using a puffer tool, I gently blew it around until I liked it. I put the cardstock over it and lifted the print and let dry. That is the way I did all of my cards.I cut a leaf from Simon Says Stamp in gold cardstock and added it over the circle. You don't want to cover up that ink. I used an old Stampin' Up sentiment, then added the panel to a brown card base.
I ordered a set of gelli plates that came with a circle, triangle and rectangle. Here are the cards I made.

Missed you

Life has a way of interfering with my cardmaking. Two of my good friends had foot and knee surgery within days of each other. I have been cooking and taking food to them for quite a while. Next time, I will schedule their surgeries!

That set me back a bit. Then my computer got hacked and gave me a virus and locked me out. I took it in and left it. Staples got rid of the virus and ran a diagnostic test. I am having to log back into everything on the computer. The worst part is I have to log into my blog each time. I've never had to do that since I created it and what a pain. I enter the password, then have to verify on my phone that it is me. I am researching how to stay signed in and blogger is no help at all.

Here is the card I made for one of my friends. It is simple but she loved it just the same.

I got a new boomerang. I can't seem to get rid of the old one.

Last one this year

Last Easter card! This one used an embossing folder and was inked over the raised areas with soft colors. This year has been so busy and not is not normal. Usually these first few months are so quiet and not much going on.  I'm not sure what happened but it put me behind on everything.

I'm not done

showing you my Easter cards. This was made for my granddaughter and I knew it would make her laugh. I just added google eyes to the bunny and a pom pom tail.  I hand delivered it on Easter since I was so slow at getting my cards made this year. I was right, she laughed.

He is Risen and we Rejoice

Happy Easter on this beautiful, sunny day. I wish you Blessings and Love all year long, along with good health and good weather.

I used a Simon Says Stamp Vine Canopy embossing folder and inked over it with yellow ink. The Cross was cut in black cardstock and vellum and glued together. The sentiment is embossed in Zing embossing powder.

My cooking tip today for Easter dinner - If you stir coconut oil into your kale it makes it easier to scrape into the trash.

Puffy Stickers

I am embarrassed with my Easter cards I've made this year. I waited until literally the last minute before they had to be mailed so they are one quick layer and I used preprinted paper for many of them. This card is for my great granddaughter who is two. I used puffy stickers over a blended pink background. Even being simple, I know she will like it because of the texture.

I can't believe my memory is bad, but this year I can hide my own eggs!

My heart goes out

to all those impacted by the tornados this past week. One of my friends lives in a city where one tornado touched down here on Friday night and I can't reach her yet. The power hasn't been restored as of today.

I've started my Easter cards this week. I can't seem to get started early on holiday cards and I don't know why. It has been a busy week and I don't seem to plan ahead. This card was made by sponging different colors on cardstock then using a Simon Says Wavy Egg die over it. I popped up the strips over the panel, then removed the die. The panel is blue but shows white in the picture.

Spring is really here. I got so excited I wet my plants.
