The shine is hard to capture

The bad thing about mirror card stock is trying to get a good picture of it. I embossed this copper mirror c/s with a Provo Craft Cuttlebug embossing folder for autumn. The shine is awesome but the reflection keeps it from being a good picture. I used an Altenew small leaf die to cut the leaves from paper a dear friend sent me.  It's hard to see but turned out to be a lovely card.

Celebrating fall

I'm into my fall cards now but I want to show you a quick look from my great granddaughter's birthday party. My daughter in law did a fantastic job and had blow up farm animals on a small scale. I didn't get a picture of them, but I did get a picture of the entrance of the balloons and barn. She made her a small cake with a barn and animals on the front of it that was so cute. My great granddaughter loved the FP barn and those little animals. Here she is in her farm shirt and jeans playing with the farm.

This is an alcohol ink on vellum card using a die I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I cut it from white c/s and sponged some brown ink in the center of the sunflower. Have a great day.

Cold, dark, dreary

That's what today looks like and it feels so chilly. It is raining, windy and downright miserable today. I got a very late start to the day by sleeping in and so far doing nothing. It seems like that kind of day.

My great granddaughter's first birthday party is coming up and the theme is farm animals. I don't anticipate any actual farm animals in the yard during the party so I made this card for her. I used a My Favorite Things stamp set, stamped and colored the animals with Copics and fussy cut them. The hill was a Lawn Fawn die.  I stamped a balloon and fussy cut to add to the cows tail. The Fisher Price Farm is her gift.  It's hard to believe a year has gone by already!

Correcting my boo boo

I entered a card that wasn't watercolor and this is my new entry to replace it in the casmixup challenge. I water colored Tim Holtz water color paper with Catherine Pooler inks. I added the inks to my glass mat and spritzed with water, then onto the paper. I'm pretty pleased since it is not my strong suit. I used a Poppy Stamps leaf die to cut them out. The soft sage c/s was embossed with a leaf folder by Darice. An Impression Obession die cut the Thankful from the same watercolor paper.  I'm sorry Loll and all the designers who work so hard to do this for us.

A promotion card

Recently my daughter in law got a promotion at work and I wanted to send her a card. I was able to use my new Simon Says Stamp Outline Leaves Background stamp. I embossed it in gold embossing powder and embossed the sentiment in gold also on vellum. I matted it on gold mirror cardstock. I am going to post this in the mynbus challenge since this is the first outing for the outline leaves.

Autumn colors

Fall is knocking at the door even though it is in the 90's here. I love the changing colors of the leaves and the beauty it brings. Also, we have cooler mornings and evenings and warm days. Autumn colors is the theme of casmixup challenge this month and it is perfect. I used a die from  Impression Obsession called Fall Leaf Background over alcohol inks on vellum. When I do the alcohol inks I drop on small dollops of AI and spritz with alcohol, then touch with a paintbrush and let them move. I think of that as watercolor so if that's not right, just delete my card. I don't make many fall cards but I do like the colors. Lets all enjoy fall before the cold and snow settles in.

Christmas Plaid

First, I want to thank the ladies who replied to my post yesterday about ways to keep cards I like. Both are excellent ways to remember what you like and where you saw it.

I don't usually post two days in a row but I wanted to post my card for caschristmascardchallenge . Colleen of onesmileliftsaspirit.blogspot.com/ is hosting and is asking for plaid. I love plaid and I had to make a card for this challenge. I used a very old Sizzix die for the bell and cut it from the plaid paper and added a bow. I've had the 6 x 6 paper pad for a long time and it's by Basic Gray. The scalloped frame is a Pinkfresh  die. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

For my grandson

This is the card I made for my grandson's birthday. The stars were cut with an old Sizzix die and white embossed with a Simon Stamp Says You Matter cling background stamp. Then I brushed DOX inks over the stars. The little black stars are from a set that comes in a little plastic bottle. The label is gone so I don't know where they came from.  The happy birthday is a My Favorite Things Die-Namics. The last step was to sponge around the edges. I saw a card like this on Pinterest and now I can't find it so if it is your design, please let me know so I can give you credit. I have to start keeping track of that. I will order a stamp set because I saw a card on Pinterest I liked and when it comes, I can't find the card again! I need a plan!

Another birthday card

The flooding across the south and east are so unbelievable and heartbreaking, as are the fires out west. All those people displaced just breaks my heart.

For this birthday card I used a Simon Says background stamp called Leaves and Berries over a sponged background. It was embossed in gold then the Poppy Stamps happy birthday die was cut from gold mirror c/s and added. You will see the Leaves and Berries again since I really fell in love with it.

It's true

Things do happen in three's. I am dealing with my insurance company because of a roof leak. They aren't going to replace it. I have to replace not only the furnace but the air conditioner as well. I'm a little concerned about the dishwasher but that would be starting another three set. Don't tell the dishwasher I'm worried - that's between us.

My daughter in laws birthday is coming up and this is her card. I used alcohol inks on vellum and a die cut from Stampin' Up lightly sponged. Added some gold embellishments to the center of the flowers and some strips of black cardstock where the vellum joins the cardstock. The sentiment is Memory Box.
