No card

I've been doing house things this last week. The furnace company came to check my furnace and thermostat I'd like to say before winter got here but that ship has sailed. We've had wind, cold, ice  and snow already. I have some bearings going out in the inducer motor? I think that's what he said but otherwise it is working fine. Thinks a humidifier would help keep it warmer in here. Then our power and light company came and assessed how energy efficient this house is and it passed with flying colors. I had them out because I have to set the thermostat up to be warm in here and he said that was okay. I will get new weather stripping and caulking in the spring. The house is on a slab and I have concrete floors with carpet over them so they are really cold in winter. I am asking Santa for leg warmers and wool socks for Christmas.

My family was here for Thanksgiving on Sunday. Below is a picture of the mess I made in only an hour and  a half of cooking. That's the part I don't like about cooking, it requires dirtying up pots and pans. Where is the kitchen fairy when you need her? My cabinets are oak, I don't know why they look so dark.

My sister in law and I went to Nashville last Friday and the shops are all decorated for Christmas. I took the picture below of the huge polar bear they have in front of one of the shops. You can go and stand by him and have your picture taken and we were already past it when we realized that so we didn't go back.

This was a complete rambling of nothing with no cards. I will do better next time. You could have done without any of this. Sorry, I just felt out of touch!

Cooking today

My family is coming tomorrow so I am spending the day in the kitchen. Ugh. I'd rather be stamping but that's on the back burner (not on the stove) for a few days. Busy week next week with appointments so I'm not sure when I'll get to stamp.

This card was for my other granddaughter. It was inspired by a tag Kara posted in Oct. I loved it so much, the bright happy colors and the design. This is simple with just pattern paper and a MFT mouse stamp fussy cut and popped up. The frame is Penny Black and I added a strip of fall leaves. I'm sorry the picture is fuzzy and the card is mailed so I can't retake the picture.

Six days in a row

Happy Thanksgiving.

This is six days in a row I've posted! A new record and not like me at all. But I wanted to say how thankful I am for my crafting friends online. It is such a wonderful, caring group of people  and I'm thankful to be a part of it. The inspiration is awesome, there is so much talent on line but it is the caring that I love so much. I hope you all have a wonderful day with family, friends or whatever you choose to do. Hugs to all of you and here is a card for you.

Going backward

I had another Thanksgiving card to post before I get caught up in Christmas. I usually do one holiday at a time so I don't get confused! Since I moved my Christmas crafting things to easier access I can make Christmas cards anytime and I got them mixed up this year. This is a card for my granddaughter made with a MFT stamp and colored with Copics. The paper is Lawn Fawn and the die is IO. I just added a few sequins for bling.

Winter

Winter is here now. Where was spring? I'm already tired of the cold weather. It's so much colder already than what is normal for Indy. I don't like it.

I wanted to enter Bonnie's choice in the CAS Mix Up card challenge with an embossing folder. I tried three different panels that currently live in the trash can before I got this card. It is using a Cuttlebug e/f, a PSX stamp and Copics. The coloring on the holly doesn't show up very well.  I added red gems from a package that says Rhinestone Stickers! I wish I had embossed on white card stock but, as you can see, I didn't.

Posting three days in a row!

I am on a roll right now after mojo deserted me for a while. I just wanted to quickly add this tag to the 12 tags of Christmas. I used two Poppy Stamps stitched main street tags, Stampin Up paper and a Memory Box star of wonder die cut from silver cardstock.  The shine doesn't show up in the picture. I also added Stickles to the paper.

November Twofers

You would think someone would understand that a pot of tinsel embossing powder would have glitter in it. I have sworn off glitter unless it's in drops but no, I went ahead and embossed the white wreath with it. Then I got my sweeper out and went over the craft table, my legs, the floor and the dog bed, washed my hands and started over. I embossed over the shedding tinsel with white embossing powder and that was that. I used pattern paper over the card panel and a white bow over the wreath and glued to a red circle. On my second card I die cut a brown wreath, cut it in half and trimmed it down to make deer antlers.I sponged the sky with a Simon Says Stamp cloud stencil and sponged the trees. The wreath is Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson, the bow is Impressions Obsession. The deer and birch trees are Memory Box dies and sentiment is SU.

The last leaves

This title is a twofer. This is the last of my encrusted leaves and after this weekend it will probably be the last of the leaves on the trees. I used the same melting of embossing powder and sprinkling things on it while melting.  I used pattern paper and on the first card I also cut a second green leaf to back the white one for a bit of dimension. I also used a Martha Stewart punch to punch the little green leaf. The second card used a cut apart for the sentiment.

Here comes Santa Claus

I wanted to get Christmas stamping started and I started with a tag for

I used a stamp image from a set from Scrapping for Less of Santa coming down the chimney. I cut a scrap of brick paper and used a die from Poppy Stamps called Frosted Roof and Ledges to make the roof. I added white flower soft to his hat and mittens and Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops for the frost on the sentiment and roof. This tag includes stamping, a die cut, pattern paper, twine.  fussy cutting and coloring with Copics.

Encrusted leaves

I did get a card made with my encrusted leaves. That is a technique where you use Stampendous kits with embossing powder and little bits of mica in different colors. You use Versa Mark on your die cut, then add mica first because it doesn't melt, then add encrusted e/p or regular e/p and melt from underneath so the stuff doesn't blow off. You can add shaved ice or gilding flakes too.  I used my craft mat and put it on the griddle, then added the die cut. It melts from underneath and it all melts together. I didn't put the mica on the other leaves first and it fell off. The dark spots on the leaf are the mica flakes. I got my kits at JoAnn's.

The fires

I am so sad to see those terrible fires in northern and southern California. So tragic with the loss of life and property. I'm hoping they can put them out quickly. The firefighters are so brave even after some of them losing their own homes.

I went to Walmart and bought a griddle so I could do the encrusted technique. I played with it and got some leaves done but the pictures didn't come out very well. I've only made two cards with them and they are pretty simple. I used paper from a K&Company and copper ribbon from Stampin Up. The first leaf is done in copper e/p and the second is yellow, red, orange and green  The encrusted bits fell off. I don't think I put them on in time to melt into the powder. My next ones are better and I'll get them posted as soon as I make the cards.

Time change

No matter how I explained the fall back time change, Molly just doesn't get it. She is used to getting up at 7 am and now gets up at 6 am. I do not like rising at 6! I'm not too crazy about getting up at 7 but at least that is more reasonable.

I'm finally getting started on cards for the next holiday. Here it is the 8th already and I guess I won't get many made in time. This card is made with Alexandra Renke papers. I love her papers and have a hard time cutting into them. These images all came from the same piece of 12 x 12 paper.

Another sympathy card

Gosh, I wish there was no need for sympathy cards. This is a hard one to make because you are so sad at the time you need it. This is a Stampin Up tree and IO die. I just added Nuvo glitter drops in golden sunset to the leaves for a fall tree.
