I ventured out

After five months of home quarantine I went into the grocery store Friday. I needed to exchange some items that were sent in my online grocery order so I took those items back and then shopped inside the store. It was so nice to pick out my own food but I will tell you, it wore me out. I can tell I need to be doing more and getting more activity. Daisy and I have walked some and that helps too.

I recently received a wonderful, uplifting gift and I wanted to send a thank you card. This is a Memory Keepers embossing folder that I inked up first, then embossed. The thank you is embossed over vellum. The card reminds me of the Blue Willow dishes my aunt had when I was growing up and maybe that's why blue has always been my favorite color. A simple card but I had to do it three times to get the embossing folder inked up well. Getting an even coverage is harder than I thought.

Be kind to one another.

I haven't tried that techniques as I imagine it to be messy and hard to clean up. You've done it beautifully. I love the blue color.

Blue is my favourite color too! I know what you mean about the inking challenges, but third time’s a charm and it looks beautiful.
And yay to getting out... I went for a stroll-just-because-the-weather-was-perfect yesterday, and it was a nice change.

Sometimes it is hard to get an even inking on those folders, but yours looks awesome, and I love that shade of blue!! so glad you got out, it does make you feel better, doesn't it? Kind of "normal"! I am venturing for the first time to church. they allow 21 people to attend the service, we sit far away (it is a huge church) so no problem distancing ourselves. I had to sign up online to attend, did it back in July! Looking forward to entering God's house...I have a few questions for Him! *wink Heart Hugs friend, I am happy you have Daisy to keep you company!

I have a terrible time with that technique, but I do love the look of it! Absolutely beautiful card! Glad you were able to do a little shopping--hopefully the store was not crowded & you weren't there very long. That's our rule now--only go inside if there are few people & only for 15 minutes or less. What a world! Glad you & Daisy can go for walks. Right now it's so hot Fritz & I are very limited walking, but should cool down some this week. Sending hugs, Greta

Still not up for going into the super market as yet. It I can't order it on line we don't get it. Came unstuck with The Doc's favourite whisky as I had put no subsititute and he didn't get any at all!!
I do like the look of this card with the vellum overlay. It reminds me of the delft pottery. Such a pretty blue. Hugs Mrs A.

Hi Brenda, a lovely card, I've not tried this technique for a very long time, my Mum has blue and white dishes too. Hope that you enjoyed your trip out to the store and your wander around, still sticking to only local stores, no trips to city or suburbs for now. Have a wonderful week... Megan

I'm so glad you were able to get out Brenda and exchange some items, then shop a little in the store. I found too, that I much prefer picking out my own food! Who knew? I thought it would be great to get our food delivered....until we actually had to do it. lol I walk during commercials right here in the house, doing laps, maybe that is something you could do to help with not being so worn out. Just do a little the first week and then maybe add any lap in the next week. There is no way I could walk three dogs! I can't even walk Savannah because she is too strong and doesn't like when vehicles won't slow down going by us. We have no walks in the country so we are on the road. So no road walking for us! I am loving this embossing folder you used, have you tried using a brayer to get the ink on or taking the pad directly to the embossing folder. Those techniques help get a more even coverage. I think yours turned out great even if you did have to redo it a few times. Hope you lunch went well with you friend and lifted your spirits!!! Hugs, Brenda

I've never been able to ink an embossing folder so it covered well. This looks like you aced it my friend! Such a pretty card with inked embossing and vellum! I'm glad you were able to get out. It took me one week to find that I'd rather do my own grocery shopping. I can't say I enjoy getting out a 7:00 am but at least the store is clean and there aren't many other shoppers out there. It makes me feel a bit safer.

Glad you got out for a bit. I know I have my six month physical tomorrow which will involve a good part of the day and lots of walking too at the clinic. But not near as fun as shopping would be. I like your wonderful card you made too.

I'm so glad you finally got out to get your own groceries. I dash in/out of the store as the mask wearing takes my breath away and 1/2 hr is all I can tolerate with it on my face. Love this beautiful card with the embossed look, and I love those precious old blue willow dishes too!

So happy you were able to get out to the store, Brenda! I do feel more comfortable going since we have the mask mandate in Ohio. Taking walks with the dog and getting out helps, too. I love this wonderful weather we are having right now and I hope we have a lovely fall. Your card is gorgeous! I haven't tried that technique, but certainly am willing to try since you achieved great results! Such a lovely blue and great touch with the vellum!

I like the simplicity of the card. It is amazing. It looks like a lace.
I hope it will be safe enough soon for you to go out often.
Hugs, Sonja

You know we never talked about this, Brenda, so you have no way of knowing that I, too, have a collection of Blue Willow and other antique blue and white dishes! Sort of gives you goose pimples, doesn't it? I mean, it's like there really is a Muse out there who sort of guides us invisibly so that our cards fit the recipients in ways we don't even know. So no wonder I loved this card so much! I'm also glad to read that it took you three times to make it because it makes me feel less inadequate that I've never been able to get such great coverage with this technique. The vellum overlay sediment works perfectly! Hugs, Darnell

Amazing work with this technique Brenda. The colour is soft and beautiful and I love the gorgeous design of this embossing folder. The vellum sentiment banner is such a great idea so that you can see the gorgeous design behind it. Good to hear that your recent trip out turned out well. I can imagine that grocery shopping would be tiresome. We are all so used to being home and I know that I do way more sitting than I should. Take care, sweet friend. xx
