A yard of bricks

It is the most perfect twofer for me this month. The prompt is Wheels and I am in a city known as the racing capital of the U.S. My first card uses wood mount stamps from Good Stamps, a race car and checkered flag.  The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has bricks inlaid in the track known as the Yard of Bricks. Using a sheet of white brick paper from a Recollections 6x6 paper pad I sponged Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink to look like worn bricks.  I stamped, fussy cut and embossed the race car and colored with Copics. The wheels are done with a  Mercury Silver Galaxy marker. The car is popped up going across the finish line.

The second card had me in a frenzy. I made the card and knew exactly what I wanted to say but had no stamp for it. Die cute a red foil heart and popped up the race car. I intended to print the sentiment out on the computer. The printer apparently has had a bad day and would not print. That happened on the very first Twofer Challenge and I hand printed the sentiment.  After working with it for hours I uninstalled it and was going to re-install it. NOT.  My granddaughter's boyfriend is going to come and install it for me this weekend. So, when in a frenzy we improvise. I went through every stamp set I have and found a sentiment that says "you make my heart happy" by My Favorite Things. I just covered up the happy and stamped and embossed it. Then I dug out my QuickKutz metal dies and cut the word race in black and red card stock to make a shadow. The moral of this story is "be flexible and able to change your mind before you make yourself crazy". I did not do that.

Be kind to one another.

Both great CAS cards love the racing card and well done on the perfect sentiment-these printers certainly have attitude to rival teenagers

Great Twofer cards for the wheels challenge! I really like how you aged the bricks and that schparkly heart is a winner in my book! Great way to improvise on the sentiment too! Cool ideas :)

That's perfect, Brenda! I like your two cards. :-) The wall is fantastic. Well done! I like the suitable sentiment for the heart with racing car inside on the second card.
I agree with your quote. :-) We can use our crafting tools in many ways. It only requires imagination. :-)
Have a nice day!

We have a daughter living in Indy, and so we're familiar with the excitement of the big race! Your sweet brickyard is the perfect backdrop for that race car. Love the checkered flag on your birthday card, too. And that foil heart on your second card is pretty darn cool. The fact that you used a masked sentiment and die cut 'race' shows how you've really thought out of the box! Two "wheelie" great cards! Thanks for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! Bev

Your racing cards are so fun and cute!! Love the brick on the first card and second card is so eye catching with the all the hearts! Sorry to hear about your printer problems. I have a canon printer problem right now with printing out my photos. My son helped me once and my husband the second time. I'm afraid to tell them again I'm having problems, lol. Oh, how I wish I was more techy!:-) Take care and have a great day!

Those cards are awesome! I really like that racing card and the colors of your cards are fantastic. As for me, I have no idea what I am going to do or if I will even find time. I hope I can at any rate.

Your cards are so wonderful, Brenda! I love how you made the brickyard, and the car is at a perfect angle to race right across it! Wonderful idea with the racing car in the shiny red heart! No need for a printer - you have a creative mind to get you where you need to go! It's a perfect sentiment style with the word "race" emphasized. So glad you joined in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!

I can see why you wanted a specific sediment, Brenda, and you did such a great job coming up with that RACE sediment! It's perfect with your Indy car driving over the beautiful shiny heart! Sorry that your printer gave you such trouble and I hope it will soon be all fixed. Your birthday card is such a great design replicating the famous Yard of Bricks and it will be loved by any Indy recipient!! Thank you so much for going above and beyond for Twofer Card Challenge #16! Everyone sends you hugs back from Vancouver! Hugs, Darnell

Brilliant, Brenda! That background yard of bricks is fabulous ... such a great spot for the Indy racing car and that fun checkered flag! Love the play on words on your second card ... so worth all the anguish (which sounds considerable!) ... perfect with that bold beating heart and cool car! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)
