I needed a card for my neighbor who lost her husband quite suddenly. I had the hardest time with this card. I cut and blended the scallop, stamped the bird, colored with copics, cut the dark green oval and adhered it. Then I decided it needed the eye on the bird more defined so I got out my black enamel accents. I was so careful but it blobbed right out in a chunk on the birds eye. I used my fingernail to scrape some of it away and got it on the edge of the scallop. When I tried to get it off, the color came off with it. So I reblended and it didn't. Acck! So I started over. Blended, stamped the bird with gray ink this time thinking the color would look better. Colored with copics. It did not look better. Started over. Cut new scallop, blended, stamped, colored, turned over dark green oval and applied the glue to the oval, and promptly dropped the whole oval on the top of the card. I grabbed it and moved it to the bottom, but not where I wanted it. I had glue all over the card under the sentiment and the oval was stuck on too close to the bottom. I was afraid to try to move it, so there it is! How could something so simple go so wrong? I used a linen look background stamp that I didn't quite get the card up high enough so I had to cut a little off the top. The only thing that came out well was the sentiment that I embossed with clear embossing powder. I didn't mess that up hardly at all. So with a lot of nerve I am actually entering this card into two challenges. One in

 and one in

OLS

Then I ask you, could this possibly be comfortable?

Be kind to one another.

Your card looks fine. If you hadn't said where you intended to place things, then I would have thought everything was where you intended them to be. I find sympathy cards the hardest to make, but your card is perfect for this sad occasion. xx

Lovely card Brenda...never would have known you had a problem with it. I am like that too....each piece must be perfectly placed or I do it over. It's hard living with a perfectionist....and when that perfectionist is me...uge...makes it harder!!!
Your doggie looks comfortable. My dog finds lots of unusual places to sleep...must be comfortable if she is not moving...lol!

Oh Brenda, go straight to the top of the class for perseverance. Your card has turned out perfectly. My cats used to cram themselves into the most awkward of places but didn't seem to mind the postions they ended up in. Hugs Mrs A.

I had to chuckle as I read the tale of this card. So glad I'm not the only one to have these troubles! It certainly came out beautifully in the end & I know it will be appreciated. Stay safe & warm, Brenda!

Oh Brenda, we have all had those days... but this is quite lovely and I think your neighbor will be thrilled that you took all that time to make it. We had a beagle for 17 years...loved him, hated him, miss him still!

Oh Brenda, I'm sorry for giggling here - what a time you had making that card. And it turned out beautiful in the end!

Your card looks very nice, Brenda, and I got a kick out of reading all the difficulties (cause I do the same stuff! Made me feel like I'm not the lone one struggling). All's well that ends well, as they say. I have blobbed those enamel products every single time I've tried to use them. Your neighbor will appreciate that you thought of her, and she won't be nearly so critical of the card as you are! It really is a nice, serene look and I love that background texture too. Molly looks very content & cosy. Smart doggie! TFS &Hugs

I'm glad to know I'm not alone! I too am a perfectionist so the cleanest and simple-ist card could take me hours to complete! You really persevered and your card looks lovely, I'm sure it will be appreciated! Thank you for choosing to play along with The Paper Players this week!

What a beautifully CAS card that I'm sure will be well-received; it's a fallacy that 'clean and simple' means quick, that's so often not the case. I often spend more time deliberating CAS cards than more detailed ones. I'm glad you persevered! Thanks for joining my CAS bird challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

Sorry you had trouble with the card, but it surely turned out beautifully. Love the inked background of the image and I think the placement of the oval is just perfect. Cute dog, it looks like's he's had a rough day :-) Wish we had a dog too, but we have two cats and hubby won't get anymore pets.

I feel your pain Brenda, sympathy cards are not easy to make at all! But in the long run, yours turned out beautifully! I think it will be a great comfort to your neighbor. I have to laugh at your dog because our dog does the same thing. She lays in such weird ways and on so many things that it cracks me up! I, like you, think how can that even begin to be comfortable?! lol Hugs, Brenda

Doggie is all cozy down inside his pillow trench! TFS, Brenda, that is a cute photo! I'm so sorry that your card took you to hell and back, for goodness sake! I'm not just saying this to be nice: I actually think your layout turned out to be fabulous! It is very well balanced to my eye and a really tender card, perfect for the sad occasion. Hugs, Darnell
