This heat has one redeeming factor - I can stay in and craft! It truly is a terrible heat. You can't stand to be out and I literally can't breathe in this kind of weather. We'll see what happens when I go to exercise and come back to the car. I may have to leave it running with the air on while I'm inside!
Since I was inside all day I tried the encrusted jewel technique I saw from Loll. It took several tries and the mess I made is indescribable. It will be Christmas before I get all the glitter out of the carpet. BUT, the results are amazing. On my first try I somehow managed to blow most of the glitter off the die cut, hence the carpet. I did better on the second try but then I realized I wasn't really coating the leaf with enough "stuff". I used Stampendous Copper Tinsel embossing powder, and their gold glitter along with frantage in bronze and gold. I don't have a griddle so I heated it from underneath carefully so it didn't catch on fire, which at one point I thought it might. Once the smoke dissipated I was left with a beautiful encrusted leaf. I love this and can't wait to try again. The gray and copper cardstock and sentiment are from Kaiser Craft and the copper paper is DCWV. The leaf die is Poppy Stamps. The first picture is of my first two tries. Be kind to one another.
Edited to add: I just let Molly outside and I have glitter on the patio.

Wow! Your persistence paid off, Brenda! That copper/gold leaf is gorgeous!!! Sorry to hear it's so hot there, but great excuse to spend lots of time crafting :)
Oh my goodness, totally worth the effort and glittery carpet!! These are absolutely stunning!! Wow!! I love, love them!! So, so gorgeous!! The heat is unbearable. I think this may be the last 90's day for a while...or so I hope. Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

Amazing...I saw Darnell's encrusted jewel in person, so I can just imagine what yours looks like in real life! Good for you for sticking with the whole process and getting glitter every where...it looks like it was very worth it! Heart Hugs, Col
ps...sounds like staying inside and getting crafty is a very good thing to do in the heat!
Gorgeous card, Brenda! Your leaf is stunning and the background is beautiful.
Hi Brenda - thank you for your kind comment on my card today - just looked at your leaf (and your other cards) - that leaf is gorgeous - have never tried that technique but it sure has wonderful results!
Your card is gorgeous Brenda, such a fabulous technique - well worth all of the effort.

I have never heard of this technique, but I love what I see here. How beautiful!
Your leaf is fabulous, Brenda, looks lovely on your beautiful card.
Please send some of your heat over to the UK - is pretty cold and dismal here! xx
:) This is a messy technique ... but oh-so fun, right??!! You did great work Brenda!! Love the two blue leaves that you can use in the future. The gold and copper one is gorgeous with the the thickness of all that glitters and sparkles. Love the design with the pretty patterned paper in the background. Hopefully you'll get most of the glitter rounded up soon. I always us my silicone mat ... the glitter sticks to it really well. You should add your card to CAS Mix Up! xx
Wow Brenda, you got the hang of it well! I love this beautiful and elegant card you have made with your encrusted leaf. I haven't tried this yet but want to. I love how your's came out. What a big difference between your two practice ones. So you have to use a lot of stuff to make it work it looks like. I can imagine the glitter that is everywhere. lol Glitter is notorious for that! Just don't let Molly eat any of it. I've got to take some time to try this out myself, but afraid to heat it from the underneath. I guess we need a little pancake electric pan. lol Hugs, Brenda
Well, you certainly nailed it in my book. These are gorgeous and I really love the card you made with the copper or bronze toned one. I have glitter all over too. It just carries all over the place it seems.
I'm having the same problems breathing in the heat (will send an email when I get the commenting caught up). I am loving your BLUE leaves very much, and it was interesting reading the process. Can't absorb it all so I'll have to re-read and go visit Loll's blog. I think the gold encrusted leaf over this gorgeous background is just stunning. The gold (maybe it's copper - yes, I re-read that!)looks very rich agains the gray background too! I'm so glad you are having time to try these new techniques. I enjoyed the Black Ice, but my result was not nearly so pretty as yours. Your card inspired me though! TFS & Hugs Pats to Molly!
I'm sorry about the stifling heat, Brenda, but after the news a coupla days ago, I'm glad to hear you didn't have the terrible drenching rainfall and hail that caused so much damage!
Your copper leaf and background is magazine cover-worthy, my friend! I'm gobsmacked by the entire design!! I can't believe you were that successful just with your heat gun!
I've heard of Lucy in the sky with diamonds; now we have Molly on the patio with glitter!! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
Well done you on keeping going with this wonderful technique. Your card is absolutely stunning, so eye catching and loving all the bling x.
What a beautiful leaf, Brenda! It would make a beautiful brooch!
STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!! I will definitely try this great technique!!!!!!!!! Kisses, my friend.
Absolutely stunning, Brenda! Worth glitter all over!
