I just wanted to pop in quickly today and tell you all we are okay. There was a tornado on the west side of Indy, very close to the racetrack. It touched down first in Plainfield, a city to the west of us. The worst damage here was a travel trailer sent into a home and the roof was blown off or caved in, I'm not sure exactly what happened to the roof. That home is not livable. A lot of wind damage and siding blown off. No one was hurt and that's the main thing. We got terrible black clouds and torrential rain and wind at our house  but thankfully no damage.  Tornadoes are a risk in the midwest when the hot weather arrives. If we have a hot, humid day we can almost be assured there will be bad thunderstorms and possible tornadoes to follow. I wish we had a basement in this house like we did when I was a kid but very few homes are built with them now, probably because of the expense.

I am posting pictures today of Magic Mesh. I doubt you can buy it anywhere these days. It was a craze (back in the day)! I still have lots of it as you can see and I need to use it. It is a plastic kind of mesh. The green and blue I have are kind of rubbery. It has it's own self stick backing and goes on real easy. Since the NBUS challenge on Darnell's blog I have been really looking at my stash and realizing that I bought "stuff" when I was working, thinking I wouldn't be able to when I retired. Then I didn't really use it. So you will be seeing Magic Mesh a lot in the future. Be kind to one another.

Hi Brenda! Phew, that was too close for comfort. Strangely enough we had a whirlwind at the village carnival here in the UK - even that was a bit scary as it ripped up tents/gazebos just like they were paper!

I hadn't come across Magic Mesh - but I know about stockpiling schtuff while you're working 'just in case'. Got the t-shirt for that one.

Haven't seen you in the Playground lately - why not make something using some magic mesh?

Hugs, Di xx

Oh I still have a few rolls left....yeah, some fads come and they go and we are left with unused stuff. I am sure you will come up with some nice cards.

I thought about you when I heard about the storms down your way. Glad you weren't too affected. Tornadoes are scarry. No perfect place to live till we all get to heaven....then that will be the most perfect weather.

Hi Brenda, so thankful you didn't get any of the 'nasty' stuff. Sounds like what you did get was scary enough. Those windy black clouds are frightening. I laughed at your tale about buying stuff when you were working, with the retirement budget in mind. I did the same. Then forget it's here or what on earth I bought it for! I've not seen this mesh stuff. It looks pretty. The way the holes are in the material, could it be used as a stencil of some kind? For texture when you spray or sponge through inks or water color backgrounds? It looks quite versatile, and I liked it the card where you introduced it to us. Stay safe, and again, thankful that ya'll made it through the night ok.Thanks too, for letting us know you are ok. Hugs

What a hoot! You really did plan ahead! I know I have enough stuff to last me all through retirement which will hopefully be pretty soon & I imagine I'll have fun discovering my hidden treasures, like you have! So glad we don't have tornados & glad you weren't hurt by the one that came so close!

I'm really happy that you were not hit with the storm Brenda. Tornadoes are so scary! Oh my yes, the magic mesh was all the rage back a few years ago!! I don't think I have any anymore, looks like you have quite a bit! How fun!! Hugs, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

It's your long-lost friend returned from Mt. NBUS!! I'm sorry I have been MIA because of my challenge. I think it's great that you started pulling out some of that loved-but-forgotten stash. I, too, have some mesh (not THIS much!) and I actually love the look of it on a card so I'm hoping to use mine more often, too. You can be my inspiration!!

I'm so happy to hear that you weren't damaged in the storm. It's a scary time of year. A friend in Story City Iowa had a tree fall in a bad storm there over the weekend. I also didn't realize that they were making new homes there without basements. I know it's expensive, but I think that is a really stupid shortcut, IMHO!! Why do people stand for it? You would think FEMA would require it, too!

Anyway, I'm off to see your newer posts! Stay safe! Hugs, Darnell
