In hindsight

In hindsight I would not have added the red sequins. In my head it seemed like a great idea to add a bit of shine to the card. In real life it added a busy look to the card. Maybe I'll not think so much next time. Just die cut a black heart and added small white die cut hearts. It didn't seem like Valentines without some red on the card, so there you go.  Maybe the kids will like the bling.

Rainbow hearts

Finally got my Valentines started and it's not even February. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. I only make a few for the grands so it's not to bad. The weather has been perfect for crafting with snow and ice . It has melted now but snow is expected again today. It took winter a while to get here but now it wants to be winter all at once.

This is a simple card made with Distress Oxide Inks and a Simon Says stencil. I sponged in rainbow order with brushes and added a Stampin' Up sentiment. That's it!

I love this card

In a recent zoom we made cards using a few techniques by Eileen Godwin. We watched her video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV7ikfhcZAs  to see how she does it. I love the soft look her cards produce and love the cards we all made.

I used Distress Ink and brushed the colors over a stencil. Then I used a Lavinia stamp called Sacred Tree and stamped over it. It's so easy and the results are pretty.

My goal this year

2021 will be the year I learn to water color. I see cards that are water colored and they are beautiful. Water color is forgiving, not like markers. You can go outside the lines and it looks lovely. Markers, not so much. This card is done by a suggestion from my friend, Darnell.  I colored the stamp and spritzed with water, then stamped. It has a watercolor look and I do like it. I also have more tips from Darnell and also another sweet friend, Kara. So this is my goal. I will be working on this in the coming days and we'll see how it goes.

I used a Concord & 9 stamp and a W plus 9 hello die. I also added splatters. I will add this to the
CAS Mix Up challenge.

Where to start

I have been offline since last week. I had a pop up that locked up my computer. I could get out of the pop up but that was all. It said don't shut down the computer and in fact, I couldn't shut it down or do anything. I made an appointment to take it in on Saturday. As much as I don't go out at all, this was like having a piece of myself gone without the computer. I have a tablet but don't know how to load pictures on it, if that is possible. I got ready to go and thought I would try one more time. Alas, I could log in. I had to reset the WiFi but things are working. Now I'm worried something happened and they are inside the computer just waiting to pounce. Since I just had credit card fraud I'm suspicious of everything. So, I'mmm back!

The first picture is what we woke up to yesterday. Not much snow but so beautiful coating the trees.

My granddaughter broke her wrist in four places last week and had surgery Thursday. Still a lot of pain but doing okay. She was to start a new job on the day she had surgery!

I am signed up for my Covid shot February 19th at the local hospital. I am so happy to get it and look forward to going out again.  I'll start slowly and work up to seeing the family after my second shot.

A dear friend sent me a wonderful gift and I wanted to thank her. I used some of my favorite pattern paper I've been hoarding (for a long, long time) and a Simon Says curvy die. I don't know how long you can hoard paper before it falls apart but this held up well.

So that catches you up!

My first Christmas card for 2021

I said last year I would like to start my Christmas cards earlier this year. We'll see how that goes but here is my first one.

I am playing in caschristmascardchallenge where the challenge is silhouette. I stamped in brown ink and used brown cardstock for the card base. The image is from Lizzie Anne designs and the sentiment from Scrapbook.com is embossed in white embossing powder.

Twofer Card Challenge

I am so happy to be Guest Designing for Twofer this month. The prompt is Flowers and that makes me look forward  to Spring. I used die cut flowers from Tim Holtz  and Sizzix for my flowers. The first card used a mason jar from The Greetery, pattern paper from Lawn Fawn  and a sentiment from Stampendous. The second card is copper mirror card stock from Tonic and a greeting from W plus 9. I embossed the flowers with copper embossing powder.

A little bit of mojo

A little bit is coming back after a little break. I cleaned up my room and I guess I didn't want to mess it up again so soon!

I saw two challenges I wanted to join and that kick started me, along with several other posts and some dies a dear friend sent me. I used Stampin' Up stamps and dies and a Mint Owl sentiment. I would like to play in https://casmixup.blogspot.com/ and https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge. CAS Mix Up has two new designers joining the team - Leslie and Coni. You will get to "meet" them when you visit CAS Mix Up. The challenge is hosted by Hilary and it is Splatters. Color Hues is showcasing the colors red and gray

Happy New Year

I want to wish everyone a wonderful new year. I see hope for the pandemic ending with the vaccines now being given. My mojo thought with Christmas cards done we are through making cards. I keep seeing Valentines on blogs and I'm just not quire ready. I've been giving the house a good cleaning and checking into getting a new furnace as mine is not working at full capacity and it seems cold in the house.

So I just wanted to pop in and tell you all how much you mean to me. I consider all of you my friends and thank you for sharing your lives with me. I think about you and pray for you when things aren't going so well and laugh with you when they are. I love seeing your cards and learning from you. We got through the worst of last year together and 2021 should bring us good things this year.

Keep practicing good Covid habits with masks, hand washing and social distancing so we can all celebrate next New Years Eve together! Love and big hugs,
