The fires

I am so sad to see those terrible fires in northern and southern California. So tragic with the loss of life and property. I'm hoping they can put them out quickly. The firefighters are so brave even after some of them losing their own homes.

I went to Walmart and bought a griddle so I could do the encrusted technique. I played with it and got some leaves done but the pictures didn't come out very well. I've only made two cards with them and they are pretty simple. I used paper from a K&Company and copper ribbon from Stampin Up. The first leaf is done in copper e/p and the second is yellow, red, orange and green  The encrusted bits fell off. I don't think I put them on in time to melt into the powder. My next ones are better and I'll get them posted as soon as I make the cards.

Be kind to one another.

Goodness another new technique ?I know nothing about. Talk about head in sand.!! These leaves look very realistic especially the second one. It has been raining for almost. 24 hrs now and very gusty winds. Supposed to be dry tomorrow then I can get out in the garden and pick up all the leaves that have blown off the neighbouring trees.
I used to have a job at a calendar factory but I got the sack because I took a couple of days off.
Thanks for my joke.
Hugs Mrs A.

It really is like a horror movie with the fires--hard to believe what's happened. We talked to a couple from Paradise when we were camping this year & I just hope they're OK. On a happier note--I love your leaves & cards, Brenda! I bought a skillet nearly 20 yrs ago & now I never think to get it out. I do love the results that can be achieved, though--you've inspired me!

Wow Brenda - been looking back at your blog and some wonderful makes. I especially love these cards - but am confused about the griddle technique. Over here a griddle is a flat pan with raised lines on that we use on the stove top to cook steaks and give them fancy lines. One language, divided by an ocean!

I never heard of that technique and if it involves buying something else in order to do it most likely I won't be trying it. But I do love your pretty leaves on those gorgeous cards. They look awesome!

Very pretty fall cards with the lovely leaves, Brenda! It’s very sad to hear about the fires. My niece’s husband is a firefighter and is often called to the large fires in California. I pray for all to be safe and for things to resolve soon! Have a great week!

They are both great card designs, Brenda, and I really love the leaf on your second card! It looks like you picked it up in the yard!! Reading your newer post, I can now see why the encrusting didn't work very well for us in Wisconsin. We were doing the same thing of putting the thicker gilded goodies on AFTER the ep melted and everything was just falling off. Thanks for explaining that!! ❤Hugs, Darnell
