A Play Day

In my quest to use my pattern paper, I had a play day with paper from Kaisercraft. The sentiment is a cut apart and the paper is from the same 6.5 pad called Magenta. I think Kaisercraft has the most beautiful papers and I hate to cut into it (which is why I have so many uncut pads).  The stamp is Stampin' Up. The bottom strip is from a Penny Black die.

I visited the Air and Space Museum. There was nothing there.

Birthday

Since working on Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's cards, my stash of birthday cards is very sad and neglected. This is one that I made for my daughter in law's birthday. This card uses a SSS Vine Canopy embossing folder. I added colors to it with a finger dauber and the sentiment is SSS. The lace butterfly sticker is from a set I've had a long time called Jar Jewelry by Vintologie. It has a look of crochet and I added the blue stones to it for sparkle..

Thank you all for thinking of Yvonne. She is doing pretty well and keeping busy.  Her kitchen floor has flooded twice from two different things and she is replacing it again.

Give me coffee to change the things I can and tequila to accept the things I can't.

Sheldon

Yvonne is my next door neighbor and Sheldon was one of her dogs. Yvonne just lost her husband in December and she told me Thursday she had to let Sheldon go. He had a tumor and couldn't be operated on.  It is heartbreaking to lose him so soon after her husband. Sheldon was also Daisy's buddy. The outstanding thing about Sheldon is that he watched TV. He had his own TV set up on the floor right inside the front door. The front door was open and the storm door is just glass so when I went over last Wednesday he saw me come on the porch and gave me a glance and a woof, but went right back to his program. Then another glance and woof and right back to his program. It cracked me up. He wanted to bark at me but didn't want to miss anything. I made the card below for Yvonne. Sheldon was a labradoodle and I don't have a labradoodle stamp so I used this one from Tim Holtz. The TV is from Flourishes. I had to find something small to put on the TV so I used a chick from MFT and a mouse from SSS. The remote is also Flourishes. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  This is the memory I have of Sheldon watching TV. I forgot to say I put Fun Flock on Sheldon to make him furry.

No joke with this sad post today.

A fun new (to me) technique

This is my card to enter in the casmixup challenge. It is called Faux Cloisonne' and I love the look it gives. You stamp over a glossy magazine page and emboss with gold embossing powder, then cut it out. I used an Altenew stamp and die for this card. I didn't realize the sentiment was a bit wonky until I saw the picture but it doesn't look like that in person. This was a fun technique to try. The image and sentiment were stamped and embossed. I also die cut the image and gold for the sentiment.

Auto correct can go straight to he'll.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am sharing my two Valentines made with the Penny Black "Masterpieces Made Simple" . They helped me so much when I was struggling to make my cards. My finger is still hurting, some days more than others. These PB cards are so darn cute and I love how you can dress them up. Before I mailed the first card I added little blue hearts above the bears like I did on the fox.

I hope all who celebrate this day have a wonderful day with your loved one.

The cashier told me  "strip down facing me". By the time I realized she meant the debit card, it was too late.

Another simple card today

This card is a Leonie Pujol heart die in pink cardstock and little tendril vines in white. I added some pink gems from my stash. The die is so big I had to turn it to fit.

Cremation is my last hope for a smoking hot body.

Easy, peasy

This is a finger hurting card. I made this  when the cold was really bothering my finger. I love you cut with a Simon Says die in white c/s, a kraft doily, and Teresa Collins pattern paper. I added two doodlebug designs hearts. Easy, quick and not painful!

I wish I had a pair of skinny genes.

Welcome to snowy Indiana

We have escaped winter until this past week and it came with a vengeance. We had rain, sleet, ice, wind and snow all in 24 hours. Then snow again the next day. Now we have artic temps. and below zero wind chills from last night. The picture below shows my iced up windows and the next picture shows the snow after it was plowed. It didn't look like 7.6 inches on the ground but what you see right outside my front door is what they plowed off the sidewalk up to my house. We didn't get anything near like Texas and the southern states got as far as ice. Be safe and warm if you are in anyplace like that.

This is the Valentine I made while this was going on. The skunk is Simon Says colored with Copics and matted on a red heart doily from Wilton found in the baking aisle at JoAnn's. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn stamped in Versafine onyx black ink and clear embossed. I used Enamel Essentials in black on the skunk's eyes to make them show better and shine.

I'm playing at Color Hues
and adding this card to
since I have not used the skunk before.

Still plugging along

Now this is nuts but this morning my finger doesn't hurt as much and it is raining so hard. But it is warmer right now with ice and much snow to come later on today. So while I'm not hurting I hope to get a card made today.

I won a prize a while back and the package was products from Leonie Pujol - someone all new to me. Todays cards are made with an embossing folder from her. On the first card I used brushes to blend kitsch flamingo and dusty concord over a panel. Then I rubbed black soot over the embossing folder and ran the panel through. It kind of made a muddy look that was NOT what I was going for. I thought it would highlight the folder of hearts better. I die cut the love from an IO die and popped it up. Not willing to give up, I used red ink over the e/f and ran that panel through. It does look better and got the look I was going for. I embossed the I love you from a Leonie Pujol stamp set that was also in the package in white e/p on a black strip and added that. I'm sorry the pictures aren't better but it is so dark this morning.

Having a dog named Shark is not a good idea at the beach.

Since these are all NBUS I'm popping over there today.
