Easy birthday card

Lots of birthdays coming up in the spring so I thought I would share this easy birthday card. It is bright and cheerful. It is all Stampin' Up products and we made this at SU class.

We have sunshine today but there are still a few places on the north side of town that do not have power restored after the high winds Sunday.  We had to have our family day Sunday since my son and daughter in law were both down with colds last weekend. They made it but said the wind blew them around. One was blown into the other lane as they were driving down here. Scary, but not as bad going home.

Last minute

This is a card I made for the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge that I've been trying to make all month. I've made several that ended up in the trash. I need to bone up on my water color technique. To make this one I used an Altenew stamp and stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink. Using Distress Oxide inks in worn lipstick, picked raspberry and barn door on an acrylic block and spritzed with water, I water colored the flower on Tim Holtz water color paper then fussy cut it out. Found it is kinda hard to cut water color paper with small scissors. (Note to self: buy matching dies).  A few sequins and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp in Versafine black onyx ink.

Peace

That is the word for the Christmas Challenge and I wanted to make a card for that. This is the first time I'm really trying to make Christmas cards during the year and I'm two for two but it's early yet.  Do you ever have a card you've made that you just love? This has to be my favorite card I've ever made. I think I said that before but now it's this card. I keep looking at it. It's the background I'm so happy with. I have such a hard time with color and color blending so this impressed me even though I made it! I used my new brushes that are like the Picket Fences but not that brand. I love them. I blended yellow, orange, pink and lavender inks and added black. The stamp is Impression Obession and I used a Hero Arts die for Peace and a HA stamp for the rest of the sentiment. The peace die cut is blended with orange and pink and the sentiment is brushed with the same.  It isn't as vibrant in the picture as it is in person.

Happy hippos

Last Sunday was my daughter in law's birthday but they were at Graceland celebrating. I raised my sons on Elvis music so they went to visit his home. Today we are watching the weather to decide if everyone is coming for her family birthday here. This is the card I made for her. She loves hippos so I used this old Hero Arts stamp and cut and colored it three times for dimension. Using a Lawn Fawn die I cut a hill and sponged on Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron. The frame is Gina Marie and the Happy was cut with  a Die-Namics die. I colored each letter with Copics. The hippopartymus is Simon Says Stamp. I just added sequins of each colored letter and glossy accents to the eyes and nose. The highlights are a Sharpie white paint pen.  Hope she likes it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and loved ones. I send love and hugs to those who don't celebrate. I send lots of love to all my blogger friends and those who come by and leave wonderful comments and to those who read occasionally. Below is a Valentine for all my visitors.

After experiencing headaches (which I never have) and some dizziness and nausea I called the Dr. and went in yesterday afternoon. Turns out I have a mild concussion that only requires Tylenol. If any symptoms get worse I will have a CT Scan. I go back soon for my regular checkup so I will know by then. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about but I thought I should be checked out since that's what Google said and we know Google is always right.

Oh my stars!

Cold, cold cold. That's what it is here and so many places.

These are my cards for Twofer featuring stars this month. My first card is a sympathy card. I sponged the background with Distress Oxide inks in tumbled glass, stormy sky, faded jeans, weathered wood and black soot. Then I glued all the stars that were punched out of the Simon Says Stamp die I used around the poem from River City Rubber Works from 2002. I popped it up so I could put a few stars behind it. My second card uses the outline of the SSS die called Stacked Stars The panel is die cut from a Gina Marie die and the big star is an old Sizzix die calls Stars. It's one that you use in the Big Shot with only the plates, not using the platform. The sentiments are Lawn Fawn and I added a few silver stars. The yellow was inspired by Bonnie since she has been making happy yellow cards.

Edited to add: Oh my gosh. I just went to add my cards to the challenge and it's the first time I've looked at the challenge and found that https://catluvspaper.blogspot.com used the same die. Her cards are so cute.

My stencil card

Thank you for the sweet comments about my klutzy fall. I'm much more careful as I walk into the garage now and the first thing I do is raise the overhead door. If I had really gotten hurt no one would know. Surely someone would see me if the door was open. It takes something like that to learn from it.

I wanted to join the stencil challenge this month so this is my card. I used Tim Holtz water color paper and a Penny Black stencil. I used Color Burst Lime Green and Tangerine powder and put it on my craft mat. Then using a slanted paintbrush I tapped it into the spaces of the stencil. Then I spritzed it with water and removed the stencil. It came out pretty well.

The puzzle card

This is one of the cards I put together after my SU Laura brought it over. I love the bright colors and fun puzzle look. I'm sending it to my grandson.

Thursday evening on my way to take out the trash, I fell on the garage floor. My shoe just stuck as I was walking out and the momentum carried me forward and flat on the floor. Took a chunk out of my knee and I fell on my boobs (which did nothing to block my fall) and my face. Banged my right eye on the concrete and my new glasses went flying. They now have a scratch on the lens but did not break. Nothing broke, I do have a black eye and I got the blood out of my jeans so all is well. What a klutz. If there had been time, I should have put the trash bag in front of me to break my fall. Who knew trash could be so versatile.

To thank Di

I wanted to honor Di for her seven years of the Snippets Playground. I've only entered a few times as I never think when I use snippets. I need to get better at that. This is a thank you for her and all the hard work she does. Keeping up a challenge is time consuming and now with Dudley it will be a bit harder. I can't wait to watch Dudley and his escapes. He is so adorable and Di is so sweet and funny. Also, thanks to Darnell for doing this for her.

The picture didn't come out well no matter what I did. It is bokeh paper with a soft pink Penny Black tulip die. Blue sequins and thank you.

Remember this paper?

When I first started in the crafting world I was scrapbooking. I bought so much 12 x 12 paper and sadly I still have most of it! The paper on this card is from Chatterbox Scrapbook Walls. Their paper is just gorgeous but I ended up using plain card stock for the most part when I did scrap book pages. It's so hard for me to cut it up but I did for this card. About time, right? Anyway, I couldn't help but make one snarky card for Valentine's Day. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Playful Messages.

An open heart

I haven't introduced my newest follower to you. She is Sonja and lives in Slovenia. On her blog is a travelogue from when she visited San Francisco that is just wonderful. I felt like I was on the trip with her. Since I've never been to California, this was a wonderful tour for me. I hope you will pop in and say hello to her. https://oldpunca.blogspot.com/

This is a gorgeous card we made at a Stampin' Up class last month. It is so clever to make and used SU dies. The scalloped die is the outline. The pink heart is embossed, then die cut up to the edge so the heart will open. The white hearts are also die cut and glued to just the heart part. The inside has a stamped sentiment as well as inside the card. I think this is my favorite card this year for Valentines' Day.

Lots of Llama Love

I needed to get my money's worth from my Fun Stampers Journey llama stamp so I'm using it again for a Valentine. I know my granddaughter won't mind as she loves them. Using pattern paper from a Teresa Collins 6 x 6 paper pack I cut a large heart with a die from Kat Scrappiness. I stamped the llama image and cut it out and popped it up on the heart. I also cut a small heart from the same paper with the smallest die in the set. I shaded the llama a bit with Copics. The sentiment is from the FSJ set too.

I have to tell you about my Stampin' Up gal, Laura. Since I missed her class because I was sick and we made Valentines I was worried I wouldn't get them made in time. It has warmed up a lot so I called and asked if she would be home and I could come by and pick up the supplies. I hadn't been outside for two weeks and she said I shouldn't  get out. She brought the supplies to my house and hand delivered them. She is such a class act and the ladies in her group are wonderful. I hate missing any of the classes but she went above and beyond. I am so blessed to be included with these ladies. I am working on assembling the cards today.

Also getting ready for Super Bowl tonight. What a fun day, cards and football. I made dinner yesterday so all I have to do is heat it up and I'm good to craft and watch the game. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Slow going here

I'm having a hard time making any cards and Valentine's Day is upon us. I will get the grands made and that seems to be about it. I feel fine unless I'm coughing and from what I understand that cough hangs on for up to six weeks. Oh my.

This is a quick card made with more of the Stampin' Up paper and gold mirror c/s. The love was from a Simon Says Stamp die with black c/s. Very easy and simple. No animals hiding in this one!
