Happy Halloween

I don't envy parents having to take the kiddos trick or treating tonight as it is cold, raining and just dreary. Been there, done that. A perfect Halloween night!  My card was supposed to be for the mix up metal challenge with Loll and Bonnie but when I finished it I realized I did not have any stamping on it. The spooky sentiment is a rub on. I used pattern paper and the black magic technique on the crow background. The crow is a sticker Darnell gave me and I added a google eye for drama.

So sad for my friend

I think I have shown you a card I've sent to my friends who were our neighbors before we moved here. He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer last year and had several operations for it. He was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has fought so hard. His wife has been at his side every minute. She texted me Friday morning at 7:47 and said her dad had passed. She texted me an hour later and said her husband passed. Her husband was buried Saturday and her dad this morning. This is the card I made for her. Darice embossing folder, leaf punched with a EK punch with K&C Company paper, PTI twine bow and Pretty Pink Posh sequins. I sponged over the edges and the sentiment with Vintage Photo DX ink. I'm having a hard time writing inside. The pain has to be awful and no words can take that away. I can only be there for her.

Witch Halloween card

I finally got another Halloween card made and I feel guilty because I have a lot of Halloween stamps and embellishments and I'm not making cards. My mojo has taken a small vacation. This is a Deep Red stamp set called witches brew. A sponged background and stamped cauldron. The witch is popped up and both are colored with Copics. I added a moon gemstone from The Paper Studio and stamped bats. I added Nuvo crystal glossy white drops to the bubbles. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things. I hope when mojo returns it will be creative.

Getting caught up

I'm so happy to welcome a new follower to my blog. She is Pam from http://unicornninja.blogspot.com/. She is so talented but doesn't post often because she is one busy lady. When you read her About Me on her blog you will see why. I have had her cupcakes and they are wonderful. She has a great sense of humor too. I'm lucky to know Pam as she is one of the ladies in the Stampin Up class I go to.

The laundry is caught up and house cleaned so I'm back in the craft room. It has been calling my name so I thought I'd better get with it.  I made this card before but just now getting it posted. The house is a Poppy Stamps die with yellow cardstock behind the door and windows that hardly shows up in the picture. The bats are gems from The Paper Studio. I've had them a long time in my stash. The little cobweb and spider is a sticker, another one from long ago with no name. The sentiment is SU.

Back again

I've been away from the computer for a few days. I was lucky to have Darnell come and stay with me for four days. She is as wonderful in person as she is on her blog. We had a such fun and my family all came to meet her, as well as some of my friends. The time went by way too fast and I took her to the airport this morning. She is flying home as I type. So I am behind on visiting and commenting but I will be by soon.

These are pictures from one of the stamp stores we visited and where we met for lunch. Darnell and I also went to Fountain Square to see some of the houses that were refurbished by the TV program Good Bones.  My girlfriend, Sharon, was nice enough to be our chauffeur for the trip.

Twofer Challenge

Wow, we went from 85 degrees Tuesday to mid 30's yesterday and today. I'm not exactly where or when we will get fall. I think it might have been Wednesday. Fall was here before but left to become summer.

These are my cards for the Twofer Challenge Harvest. On the first card I used my new Stampin Up goodies. The milk can is from the Country Home stamp set and cut with Galvanized Metallic Paper layered with pop dots. The background is a Tin Tile embossing folder cut from the same paper. The wheat in white is a die from Concord & 9th and the kraft wheat is Impression Obession.  The second card has reversed colors of wheat on small polka dot paper and a PTI twine bow. The hello is kraft layered on white Poppy Stamp die. I wish the picture had come out better.  This is for the

Happy Columbus Day

The card today has been sent and received so I can post it. I used re-inkers on a baby wipe and used that as my ink pad. I masked off the bottom and stamped my leaves, then masked off the top and stamped again. I love fall colors so this was a nice way to get them incorporated on a card.

I am going to enter this card into the 2nd Birthday Celebration at CAS Watercolor.

My little poem

I can't believe today
I'm seventy five
I thank God every day
I'm still alive!
I've got some health issues,
that's true
When you live this long
You'll have a few
Exercise and eat veggies
And do your part
Fruit helps too
To take care of your heart
So that's my story
I'm working hard
To take care of myself
And make another card!

Thank you so much for all the beautiful birthday cards you sent to help me celebrate the day. I would also like to introduce a new follower. She is Maria of http://mariasmerrymakings.blogspot.com/. She has the cutest planner on her blog and a sweet Halloween card posted. Welcome, Maria, I'm happy you're here.
