Dry Embossed Gilding Flakes

This month we worked on Dry Embossed Gilding Flakes during our zoom with our Group of seven cardmakersdry-embossed-gilding-flakes.htm   It really makes beautiful cards with such  shine. I used a combination of gold, copper and silver flakes on double sided tape, burnished with my finger and then with a rough sponge.  When the panels were smooth I put the unflaked sides together and ran them through an embossing folder. Then I used Staz-On black ink over the top. I took one of the panels and cut it with a Spellbinders die, used a Seed Stem die from Memory Box, added rick rack in black and glued it to a gray card base.

The second card used a SSS balloon die cut three times. I covered one with gold gilding flakes, one in copper and one in silver. Then I centered a Darice embossing folder over each one and embossed separately. I again rubbed over each one with Staz-On ink. I used black and white twine for strings and a SSS die for the greeting embossed in silver. Then I cut down the black panel and added it to silver Tonic mirror cardstock.

The last card I made taught me this is not a good technique to use on word die cuts. It's so hard to burnish and I had little pieces hanging off the entire die cut.  I did run it through the same embossing folder I used for the card and just thought I would post this to show not everything worked for me.

Seed stems

This card uses a die called Seed Stems from Memory Box. So clean and simple. It was easy to use and cut so well. It was taking the picture that was hard and took a long time. I tried with my camera and could not get the picture straight. I moved the card up and down a bit, then the camera. Finally got out my phone and got this one. I have to go into settings and reset the USB every time I load pictures from the phone to the computer. It should not be this hard but for me, it is.

I pulled a muscle yesterday digging for gold. It is a miner injury.

It's hard

It's extremely hard to believe spring pops in tomorrow since we've had snow, cold and such brutal wind all weekend. I will be pleasantly surprised if that happens. I am posting a flower card today in anticipation. I stenciled soft pink and yellow ink through a Lavania stencil, then added an Alexandra Renke die cut in black. I think stenciling adds such a soft touch to a background and also grounds the dies.

I've been hiding from exercise. I'm in the fitness protection program.

I foiled again

I recently made a birthday card by foiling and I love the look of it so I made another one. I used the transfer gel through a stencil and let it dry overnight. Then you just put the foil over the card panel and run it through the laminator. It's so easy to do and gives great results. I used the paper hugs die from Simon Says Stamp.

If you serve your kids frozen chicken nuggets or pizza, that's terrible. I don't care how busy you are, find time to microwave them.

Proud grandma

Talk about simple. This card is for my grandson who graduated from Marine Corp. boot camp last month. I wanted to focus on the Marine aspect with no fancy bells and whistles. The dress blue coat and hat are from Paper House 3-D stickers. The inside (which I forgot to take a picture of) had the Marine Corp. emblem from K and company. He was completely thrilled with the card.

I accidently changed the GPS to a male voice. Now it says "It's around here someplace, just keep driving".

While I have it out

I'm using this WRMK embossing folder one more time. This time I embossed black cardstock with the folder and swiped Hero Arts white ink over the raised parts. The sentiment is Sizzix.

Working in a mirror factory is something I can totally see myself doing.

Sympathy

It is so hard to make a sympathy card because you are so sad for the person you need to send it to. I used a Darice embossing folder on vellum. I stamped the bottom of the vellum with a Simon Says Stamp and embossed with gold embossing powder. I used Copic markers to color it in, then added the panel to a white card base.

I have a stepladder because my real ladder left when I was a kid.
