Happily no tornado. Lots of hard rain and strong winds tho.  I was so thrilled when I read Darnells blog http://www.djkardkreations.com/ the other day. She mentioned using our pattern paper on our cards. It would be the whole background. I was so thrilled as I have so much trouble combining two papers together. Then she discovered a challenge to use the paper called http://craftyhazelnutspatternedpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/craftyhazelnuts-patterned-paper.html. I had just mad a card using patterned paper for the first time. I wanted to show the tree branches as the focal point. But I did add a stamped image. I hope that is okay for this challenge. I'm going to enter it and see if it's okay. My goal for 2014 was to do some challenges. So far I have entered none, so that makes 52 days in a row I've missed. Today is the day! Hope you will visit crafty hazel's and play along. Be kind to one another.

Hi Brenda, I think you did well on this great card for your 1st ever challenge. GOOD for you. Love the way you did the background with the pretty paper (I've problems with combining papers too, or even selecting nice ones to go with a colored image). The image stamped is very pretty but I especially loved the delicate lace border trim. Very oriental look with your tree branch paper! Well DONE! Glad the tornado missed you folks. TFS & Hugs

This is so pretty, Brenda! That PP is really sensational and I can see why you wanted to feature it on your card! You added nice touches and still kept the paper a star!

And congratulations on entering your first challenge of 2014! You'll be on a roll now! In fairness to you, the computer troubles you've had since the beginning of the year are really to blame. I have a tab at the top of my blog called "challenge button links" (in case you've never noticed it) for other challenge ideas. I think I need to add Hazel's come to think of it. Lots of other bloggers have similar lists on their side bars so that helps to kind of see what might "speak" to you so you can play along. I'm always amazed at how often the challenges overlap.

One you might keep in mind is Pixie's Snippets Workshop. I'm sure you've seen me talk about it, and Mary H, and prolly others. Unless you make a truly one-layer card, it's hard NOT to use scraps (snippets) so you can enter at least once a week. Those ladies are so nice and good about returning visits and making friends.

Actually, I just realized you might have entered the challenges before in 2013 and I haven't gone to look back on last year's posts. When you said it was your first challenge of 2014, I was reading that as your first challenge, period. So just never mind if you already knew all this schtuff!

I'm glad to hear that you weren't tornadoed. Honestly, there just has to be spring coming your way soon!! Have a great week and thanks for the shoutout! Hugs, Darnell

This is beautiful, Brenda! I love the sparkle you added to the stamped flower, and isn't that a pretty patterned paper in the background?? Good for you for entering a challenge! They are such a great way to get your creativity revved up!!

Beautiful use of that lovely paper, Brenda! I have the same problem using pp, but am determined to keep trying this year. Congrats on entering the challenge--I'm pulling for you to do a second one--& then you'll be hooked--LOL!
