The second card used a SSS balloon die cut three times. I covered one with gold gilding flakes, one in copper and one in silver. Then I centered a Darice embossing folder over each one and embossed separately. I again rubbed over each one with Staz-On ink. I used black and white twine for strings and a SSS die for the greeting embossed in silver. Then I cut down the black panel and added it to silver Tonic mirror cardstock.
The last card I made taught me this is not a good technique to use on word die cuts. It's so hard to burnish and I had little pieces hanging off the entire die cut. I did run it through the same embossing folder I used for the card and just thought I would post this to show not everything worked for me.

I wonder if the sentiment may have shown up a little better on a black or white card base. I think they got lost with the gold on kraft ♥

This looks like a fun technique to learn and create with, and the first 2 cards are amazing and just beautiful! We all have learning mishaps along the way but you don't know unless you try, so thanks for the great tip!

Love this mix of colors, Brenda! The large gilded embossed background looks great with these stems! Love the bright balloons on the black background! I can imagine that the thickness and uneven texture of the gilding might not cut sentiments well. Thanks for sharing that with us.
I love the first two cards you've made. They are beautiful and I especially LOVE that ricrac trim! The balloons just pop on the black card base. The third card looks good ... I can't tell from the photo that you had rough edges with the gilding flakes, but thank you for the tip! I imagine any intricate die would have a tough time getting smooth edges with gilding flakes. I love that you ladies did a gilding flake technique! I think it is so cool with the gilding flake panel embossed and then inked with Stazon. I've got to try that! Your first card is so pretty Brenda! You got a nice look with the flakes, but then the embossing and ink takes it over the top. Love it! The balloons are really cool looking! I love how you positioned the balloons in the embossing folder, very cool card! Your sentiment doesn't look bad, but I can see how it would be hard to emboss a thinner sentiment and ink it. The balloons are absolutely fabulous, Brenda! And I love the first card, too! I do have gilding flakes around here somewhere, so maybe I can give this technique a try eventually--great inspiration!
