I have never seen so much water and flooding. It rained, and rained and rained. One of our interstates was closed just south of me because of flooding and there was so much water overflowing everywhere. I have always felt so bad for people when I've seen flooding on TV but now I truly know how they feel. It is scary.  I drove through a lot of it very slowly on my way to rehab.

Thanks to Melissa Kerman I tried the black ice technique. It is dramatic and very easy to do with supplies you already have. Just search you tube for Black Ice technique.  This is my card. My rehab buddy asked about my cards so I made this for her. I took it yesterday and she said it was "nice". If you don't make cards you really don't have an understanding about them. But she hugged me and was thrilled I made her a card.  I used silver mirror card stock and embossed it with a WeRMemory Keepers embossing folder. Then I did the black ice. It is matted on black card stock, then to a gray card base.  Be kind to one another.

Oh Brenda - I do love to have time to properly read and comment on your posts. This is just fabulous! A perfect example of the Black Ice technique. Wonderful embossing folder as well!

We have yet more rain here right now as well - the great news (in a way) is that the hospital discharged me from the back clinic. Either I'm a hopeless case or am doing absolutely everything I can to cope with it. I do prefer to think it's the latter :).

Love and a big hug

We saw pictures of Indy on TV & I was thinking of you & Molly! Flooding is so scary! Glad you're OK--stay out of that water, my friend! You're so right about non-cardmakers. My neighbors are as sweet as can be, but only thanked me for the gifts--never mentioned the cards. This one is stunning! I love that embossing folder & may have to try that technique. Sending hugs, Greta

It's so stunning, Brenda!! The technique you used is beautiful!! Wow!! Elegant and fabulous, my friend!! The rain and wind were horrendous yesterday and last night. It was a rough night of sleep with all the storms and especially the wind. I kept waiting for the tornado siren to go off but thankfully it didn't. Now they are calling for more snow on Friday. Oh joy. Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

Super card, Brenda, what a lovely technique. Lots of rain here too, but thankfully not enough to cause any flooding. Take care with all the flooding near you - a good excuse to stay in and craft. :-) xx

Okay....I never heard of the Black Ice Technique before....had to check it out on YouTube....Mentioned you in my blog and your technique. Going to try it tonight. But you used an embossing folder? How so? Does the embossing get smooshed when you drag the inks over it?? Yuck such bad weather. We had 3-12 inches Tuesday night and Wednesday. Was getting our dryer delivered...glad they got through. Have a good evening.

Chuckled about the 'nice' comment your friend made. You've nailed it when you say if the person doesn't craft anything, they really don't have an appreciation of anything handmade, I've found. You give not only the gift of your time & skill BUT the cost of the supplies. To me, it's the time a person spent thinking of me, as well as the handmade card, that means so much. We all only have a finite amount of time, and to gift that to another, it's very precious. Your Black ice is just awesome. I've seen that video, and your beautiful card turned out just splendidly. I really like that embossing folder too. Glad you were safe in all the flooding, and hope it doesn't get any closer to your area. TFS & have a nice, safe weekend. Hugs

Yikes, I'm so sorry you have had that much rain, Brenda! Aren't you supposed to get snow tomorrow? My sisters are getting it in Iowa and another friend said the same in PA, so I'm assuming you will get some kinda weather, too. I saw on the news about the tornadoes in Indiana and thought of you. So scary is right and spring is just beginning - well, not really. Speaking of weather, your black ice card is way more than "nice" to those of us who do understand the love and time and work that goes into handmade cards. Plus, you know, we do use big adjectives all the time and maybe your new friend just goes to "nice" and that's a huge compliment from her! Anyway, getting a hug out of the deal means more than words!! Hugs, Darnell xx

It's nice to catch up with you Brenda. I'm glad you didn't have flooding at your house. The weather has been crazy everywhere this spring.

The Black Ice Technique has me intrigued! What a beautiful card! Now I need to find some info on doing that technique. Thanks for sharing!
