Time for lunch and I'm pooped already. I will share what I have learned from this experience. I live in a 1500 + square feet home. I have 5300 + square feet of stuff, excluding furniture. I am now in crunch mode and just stuffing things I find into boxes and drawers as I go. I will never find those things again. It is going to take a long time to sort through this mess. Next thing I learned is I am a terrible housekeeper. Everything is covered in dust and cobwebs. No wonder I have coughed through this entire thing. Number three is no one should keep everything just because someone gave it to you. I have every gift, card and chochtke that anyone I know has given me.  That may be spelled wrong but the dictionary is packed somewhere and I can't look it up. Last thing I learned is to plan ahead. I gave away both loveseats and now have no place to sit in the evening to watch tv. Oops. It will take 6-8 weeks if I order furniture. My son said "Mom, make a flow chart and see how things will go". I did not take his advice but in my defense when I decided to do this, I called the painter and he said he would start tomorrow. So there was no planning involved.  Bummer.

I am going to show you some beautiful Valentines I received over the next few days and I know you will love them. Be kind to one another.

You have been working so hard, Brenda! Great job!!! Just be sure to take breaks and rest when you need to. It's going to feel so good when these projects are finished. Hugs to you!

You made me laugh, Brenda! I'd be in a similar position If suddenly everything had to be cleared away except I already know I'm a terrible housekeeper--haha! Lovely Valentines which must have brightened your day. You're in my thoughts, sweet friend!

It will all be worth it when everything is finished, Brenda. I'm a hoarder too, but get easily distracted every time I try to declutter. :-) xx

Oh Dear, this sounds just like it would be at our house! Had to chuckle about the love seats & no place to sit now! Easy to understand. You're in the throes of cleaning, and it does get overwhelming! Just pull in a kitchen chair, and you and Molly can cuddle. When you get _all_ finished, you will look back and smile over some of these happenings. And a very good thought on keeping memorabilia just because we were taught "don't give away something someone gave you". (let alone Throw it away!). But at this time in life, we do have to weed out and keep just those things that we really love/and or/ will use! Hugs & be sure to take breaks. TFS

Oh, Brenda, you know, we would all be in the same world of hurt as you if we were industrious enough to even attempt painting and getting new carpet! I pull out things and think, 'why am I saving this? it has been in this box for a year or two or more, will I ever use it? Probably NOT, but doggone if I don't just keep it "in case" !! We are all alike I think! so we can all sympathize with your predicament!! hang in there, just do the best you can! and thanks for your wonderful sense of humor while sorting through your stash!!

I don't even want to attempt to do what you are doing. I know I save too much, but the minute I throw something away, I find a need for it and then it's not there. lol Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been so busy with my mom. I have no life.

First off Brenda, I need to do this same thing, and I know the mess I'm going to have. I don't think you are a poor housekeeper, I think you have aged and you had a lot on your plate, that you didn't have time to deep clean. Who doesn't have more stuff than they need?!! We cleaned out last summer, two huge dumpsters, but I swear there is still some stuff that needs to go. Better than it was, but not great. I hope to start clearing out some more myself. I think you have done an amazing job, so don't beat yourself up my friend. Love the Valentines you got, so pretty! Sorry I'm playing catch up once again. Hugs, Brenda
