Today is my free day before I start cooking. I'm going out to get a new battery for my flashlight and Mason jars . I know this is a strange opening but I'll tell you why. Doesn't have a thing to do with cards so you can skip this paragraph.  When I take Molly out before bedtime I use a flashlight to scan the common area behind our house and the fence that encloses the field to the right of me. We have coyotes in that field and they come out mostly at night although twice I've seen them in the daytime. I scanned and everything was fine so she went out. I had just closed the storm door and she was right by our fence when a coyote came between mine and the house next door and was right along side of her. When I shined the light on it, it slowly walked out in the common area and across the backyard, then turned to watch us. I could see those red eyes shining in my flashlight. Molly walked all the way across the backyard and was totally unconcerned. As I went across the yard to get her (because of course she didn't come when I called her) another coyote ran across the common area on it's way to the fence. My heart was beating so hard and I was so scared. I drug Molly inside and I guess they went on about their way. The part I hate is that it came from between the houses and I didn't see it until it was right on us. I'm so thankful it didn't get in the yard. Don't know what I would have done. So I want to at least get a brighter flashlight. The jars are for my crock pot apple butter for the neighbors that I will make tomorrow. This is long I know but I didn't know how to shorten it and still tell you what happened. I will be teaching Molly to use the toilet after the first of the year!

This is an easy card we made in the Stampin Up class. I do like the unconventional colors and the big sentiment. It kind of explains itself. Be kind to one another.

Oh Brenda, too close for comfort. I did wonder if the Mason jars were to throw at the coyotes though - stay safe and get Molly toilet trained as you say :)

Oh you gave me my first good chuckle of the day friend! I love it, toilet training your dog! You are just too clever with words! I would be scared too, what was wrong with Molly? Why wasn't she scared and come running to you? Bigger and brighter flashlight for sure...how about some flood lights all across your house that is motion sensitive? Your card is gorgeous, I love the big greeting and the beautiful snowflakes...have fun cooking and blessings to you and your family! Sweet hugs to you friend!

Seriously?! That would have done me in! Here I thought skunks were a big worry. I agree with Colleen--flood lights are a good idea & you could just turn them on when Molly goes out. Of course you won't need them if the toilet training works out--haha! Beautiful card, Brenda--love letting the sentiment be the focus. In fact, I just bought a large sentiment stamp on clearance to use for some cards next year. I'd love to be your neighbor--not just for the apple butter! Have a blessed holiday. Big hugs, Greta

What bold coyotes Brenda! The bright flood light or spotlight sounds like a good idea although a bright torch will be good for checking the shadows around the houses. We have wild dogs around here and they chase wallabies and kangaroos. If I see them I yell at them! We live on a property so no really close neighbours that would be too disturbed by me yelling and cussing!

Wonderful Christmas card, enjoy your baking, apple butter sounds intriguing! Merry Christmas, Cathy x

Oh my, coyotes...that would scare me. You should really invest in solar motion lights. They are not expensive and easy to put up. My neighbor has them, and when I let my dog out, his lights go on right away, then go off, then go back on when Kylie is coming back to the door.

Maybe you can share your crock pot apple butter....that sounds good. I am sure they make great gifts....wish I was your neighbor too!!

Nice card Brenda....but your cards are always lovely!!!

Your card is so gorgeous and I love the colors. I am glad you and Molly are both okay. That is scary. We have coyotes in our area too and lots of deer which roam around at night. I have never seen coyotes in the day time though.

Good for you at being so organized this year! I'm so proud of you. And how splendid you had a day to relax before starting to cook. Crockpot apple butter sounds yummy. I love apple butter. That's very scary with the coyotes, and they could be dangerous to YOU and to Molly. Maybe you can teach her to use a kitty litter box? And your card looks just so rich with that deep dark burgundy panel. Very elegant! You & Molly watch out for the critters...can you call the animal control people to help? TFS, Hugs & Merry Christmas

Hi Brenda, a fabulous Christmas card, love the dark colours and the ribbon bow.
Maybe try finding a doggie toilet, I believe people living in apartments have fake grass squares as doggie toilets...
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, many thanks for the lovely comments you have left on my cards during the year. I hope 2018 is a Happy, safe, healthy and crafty... Megan

Oh, my Lord, Brenda, my heart starting beating fast just READING what you went through! You must have been shaking like a leaf. I'm so glad you didn't collapse dragging Molly in. Criminy. Molly definitely needs to learn to hold it for 12 hours! That sounds mean, but our labs could do it; don't know about little dogs. I'm really stumped and I don't like to be stumped. Oh, wait. What about having one of the boys put up a motion detector light? We have those front and back and they work great!!

Your card is beautiful! I love that deep plum color! I hope your cooking went well and you have a memorable and wonderful holiday with your family!! Love and hugs, Darnell
