Thank you all for your uplifting comments. Yes, it was because of Bill's passing last December that made this December so hard. Last year was a blur and this one was just depressing because he was not here and I had to realize it and do it without him. I so appreciate your coming by to help with that.

I went from staying in all the time to a complete turnaround this week. I took my granddaughter to the mall on Monday since she was out of school, my sister in law to lunch Wed. for her birthday and went to my friend Marilyn's on Thursday. Whew. I also made a card for  http://www.djkardkreations.com/
at Darnell's blog. I tried the colored pencils on kraft paper and it was an experience. I obviously don't know how to use colored pencils. Every time I sharpened one the point broke off. Now I have short, squatty pencils. I used the sides of the pencils and that worked out fine. Be kind to one another.

What a gorgeous card! Love your colored flowers as they really pop nicely on the kraft!

Your trials paid off as the card is very beautiful. I love the stamp and I'm glad it's not just me who has such trouble.

You must be worn out, but sounds like you had fun! So glad things are turning around enough for you to get active again--you've been on my mind, Brenda. You certainly DO know how to use colored pencils--this is so beautiful!

Your card turned out beautifully Brenda. Apparently the trick to colouring with pencils is a light hand and lots of layering of colour and yes it is so annoying when the leads break all the time. I s'pose that's what you get when you use the kids old school pencils : )

This turned out great, Brenda. I think the best way to use coloured pencils is with very light pressure. It's good to hear you have been out and about this week, hope you have a good weekend x

I'm so glad you are feeling more chipper, Brenda, and that you got out and about this past week! I hope the weather behaves so you can do more of it. I love that you gave my optional theme a go, but I'm sorry you kept breaking the points off your pencils. Darn! Way to go not letting them defeat you, however, because this card turned out to be so pretty! I especially love florals with this technique and love that you chose this fun and whimsical daisy to color in different hues! This card will definitely make someone feel better!! Thank you for playing in my NBUS Challenge #8! Love and hugs, Darnell

Good to hear your mood has gotten happier and that you were out with your loved ones & friends, having a better week. You made it through the tough times and that's the main thing. I think your pencil coloring looks great. I like the bright colors against that kraft, and your center shading is well done as you've blended the petals outward. Pencils are not my forte either! So I admire this a lot! TFS &Hugs (I break the points too!)

I'm glad you made it through December. Although, January is starting out gloomy and gray. Can't believe the temps were in the high 60's this week. Your card is lovely. I've never tried pencils on Kraft.....something else to put on my to do list. lol

What a lovely card Brenda!
I have heard many times that one is supposed to sharpen pencils with a knife and never with a pencil sharpener. Easier said than done ;-)
Hugs~

I totally agree with you Brenda, this Christmas was much harder on me without Dwayne here. We will get through this but it isn't going to happen overnight that is for sure! It's going to take a while to find our "new" normal-which for me is very hard. How do you do that when you are missing part of yourself?! sigh I love, love, love your card! You did such a great job of coloring your flowers with colored pencils on the kraft cardstock! Colored pencils are funny and you can't sharpened them as sharp as a pencils because the "lead" does break so easy. Sorry you have short colored pencils now. :-( But love how your card turned out! Big hugs, Brenda
